Tattoo & Piercing FAQ for Visitors to Istanbul
Answers to the questions international visitors ask us most. Still have a question? Message us on WhatsApp: +90 507 739 89 56.
How much does a tattoo cost in Istanbul?
Every tattoo at Dreamer Tattoo is custom, so the price depends on size, detail, color and placement. Send your idea, placement and approximate size on WhatsApp and we will reply with an estimate, usually the same day. Read our guide to tattoo prices in Istanbul.
Do your artists speak English?
Yes. We regularly work with international clients and communicate in English before and during your session. You can message us on WhatsApp in English at +90 507 739 89 56.
Can I get a tattoo without an appointment?
We recommend messaging us before you come so an artist is available. For small tattoos and piercings we can often find a time during your stay in Istanbul.
Is it safe and hygienic?
Yes. We use single-use sterile needles and cartridges for every client, ink is portioned into single-use caps, and all surfaces and equipment are disinfected before and after every session.
What tattoo styles do you do?
Color and black and grey realism, portraits, animals, fine line and minimal tattoos, lettering, neo traditional, tribal and Maori, surreal and large-scale sleeves and back pieces. See our tattoo gallery.
Can I swim after getting a tattoo?
Avoid the sea, pools, hammams and saunas for the first two to three weeks and keep the tattoo out of direct sun. Plan your tattoo around your beach days. Read getting a tattoo on holiday.
How long does a tattoo take to heal?
The surface usually heals in 2–3 weeks; deeper layers take around 4–6 weeks. Light flaking and itching are normal. Do not pick scabs.
Do you do piercings?
Yes. Our piercer Figen Aygün has 20 years of experience and performs ear, cartilage, nose, septum, lip, eyebrow, tongue and navel piercings with single-use sterile needles. See piercing prices.
Where is the studio?
Zeytinlik Mah. Fişekhane Cad. Halkçı Sk. No:26 D:3, Bakırköy, Istanbul, a short walk from Bakırköy Marmaray station. See directions from Sultanahmet, Taksim and the airports.
Can you cover up an old tattoo?
In most cases, yes. A cover-up is designed to hide the old tattoo with a slightly larger and darker design. Very dark tattoos may need a few laser lightening sessions first. Send us a photo for an assessment.
